Stroud and Stonehouse Railway Stations with GWR & Creative Sustainability

Katherine Glynne-Jones and Hatty Staniforth

In collaboration with the wonderful folks at Creative Sustainability and GWR, we created a new public art exhibition at two Gloucestershire Railway Stations, Stroud and Stonehouse. The series of work, a collaboration between Hatty Staniforth and Katherine Glynne-Jones, celebrates the local landscape and our connection with nature through a colourful and playful exploration. Footage from walks around Stroud formed the basis for the 12 prints exhibited at the stations and also culminated in a short film by Katherine which can be seen at the top of the page or here.

Katherine said this about the project:

“Escaping into the Stroud landscape during the pandemic was a source of comfort and joyfulness in an overwhelming and stark time. Hatty and I wanted to make the work in celebration of the landscape we are lucky enough to have surrounding us and to share that magical feeling of being enveloped in nature with whoever views the prints or film. It’s quite lovely to think of someone passing through Stroud or Stonehouse on the train and seeing these colourful prints pass by their window.”
